Introducing THE ÀṢẸ PORTRAITS
Àṣẹ as Pressure in the Modern City
Dear Readers
As we move toward the year’s turning point, I want to share a project that sits adjacent to DAILY IFÁ—rooted in the same mission, but deliberately hosted elsewhere so this newsletter can remain what it has always been: a place for the tradition itself.
I also want to be transparent upfront: only a small portion of you will care about this new direction, and that is completely fine. Most of you are here for Ifá, Òrìṣà, Odù, Ori, and the practical realities of living the tradition. This message is written with that in mind: it explains the context, gives you a clean link if you’re curious, and then returns you to the core promise—DAILY IFÁ remains dedicated to the tradition, researched, applied, and translated into modern life.
Why I’m doing this
My motivation has stayed consistent across everything I publish:
To carry the tradition into the wider human world—without diluting it—and to place it in an urban, modern context where new audiences can recognize its intelligence, ethics, and depth.
Some people will meet Ifá through technical study.
Some will meet it through myth and character.
Some will meet it through a single sentence that hits them at the right moment—because literature can do what teaching sometimes cannot: it bypasses resistance and lands directly in lived experience.
That is the bridge I’m building.
The larger ecosystem (so you can locate this correctly)
Many of you know my work primarily through the professional and initiatory layer—books written for practitioners who want depth, precision, and the ability to work with their Odù in a serious way. That work continues, and it is a long-term project that will expand over the coming months and years.
At the same time, I have been developing parallel tracks that serve different kinds of readers—without confusing them:
Odù Ifá books for professionals and initiates
For those who want rigorous detail: life-Odù analysis, ritual technologies, orthodox structures, interpretive frameworks, and textual depth.Orishá myths and themes for inner understanding
For readers who want to understand their inner essence through the Òrìṣà—without needing an initiatory frame to receive something meaningful.Theme-based books that move across the 16 / 256 Odù
Topics such as faith, love, hope, Ori, women in Ifá, and other through-lines that deserve a coherent, modern articulation across the corpus.Technical books on methods and traditions
Practical, structured works for those who want tools, systems, and clear applications aligned with the tradition. And now, starting 2026: modern urban literature—accessible to everyone
This is the new piece. It is not a replacement for the tradition-focused work. It is a translation layer—a way to carry certain truths into a literary form that can reach people who would never pick up a technical Odù volume, while still offering something resonant for readers from within the tradition.
The new series: THE ÀṢẸ PORTRAITS
In 2026 I will be expanding a literary project built as a modern, urban novel cycle—written for mainstream literary readers, but quietly grounded in the spiritual physics I live and study.
Its name is THE ÀṢẸ PORTRAITS.
Here, Àṣẹ (Ase) is translated into contemporary reality as Pressure:
the pressure inside choices that become fate
the pressure inside institutions that record you and redefine you
the pressure inside love, care, work, movement, and survival
the pressure inside the city itself—where infrastructure becomes destiny
The books are designed so that no prior knowledge is required. A reader can enter through story, voice, and urban realism. But for those who do know the tradition, there is an additional layer: a controlled interplay between Òrìṣà and Odù as an underlying architecture—felt more than explained.
For readers who want a clear entry point, the series is available on Amazon worldwide, see here USA/BRAZIL Links:
And I’m hosting the literary updates on a separate page (so DAILY IFÁ stays reserved for tradition content):
The music dimension: composed Noir / Urban sound as a new doorway
A core part of this expansion is music—not as decoration, but as another access point.
Alongside the novels, I am developing composed Noir / Urban soundscapes that reinforce the series’ atmosphere and open an additional way to enter the work—especially for people who feel rhythm before they feel theory.
And beyond that: in the coming year, there will also be musical implementations inspired by the tradition’s characteristic rhythms, translated with respect into a modern, urban language—so that the sonic intelligence of the lineages is not left behind, but carried forward.
This is not a shift away from tradition. It is part of the same mission: bringing the tradition into the modern world without reducing it.
A clear boundary: DAILY IFÁ stays for the tradition
To be explicit:
DAILY IFÁ remains focused on Ifá and the Òrìṣà tradition—research, interpretation, daily-life application, and disciplined modern translation.
The literary project has its own space, precisely so it does not distract or dilute what you came here for.
If you are curious, you can subscribe to the separate page. If you are not, you lose nothing—and DAILY IFÁ continues exactly as promised.
A limited-time entry point (and a practical request)
For a limited period, I’m setting the e-book prices of THE ÀṢẸ PORTRAITS to Amazon’s lowest permitted minimum: $0.99.
This is not about discounting the work. It is a deliberate entry point—so readers who are curious about this “urban translation layer” can try it without friction.
And yes, I will say this plainly: reviews matter. If you read one of the books and it resonates, a short, honest review on Amazon helps more than you might think. It strengthens visibility, which in turn supports the wider mission—making the tradition and its intellectual depth more discoverable to audiences who would otherwise never approach it.
Closing at the year’s threshold
Wherever you stand in the tradition—new, advanced, professional, devotional, skeptical, disciplined—this turning of the year is always a moment for alignment.
May your Ori become clearer about what matters.
May your decisions become cleaner.
May your relationships become more truthful.
May your roads open in the way that is right—not merely easy.
Thank you for reading, for walking this path with me, and for allowing me to build responsibly: deep in the tradition, and wide in the world.
Àṣẹ,
Babá Tilo Plöger de Àjàgùnnà
